Funding Circle US to bolster capital markets team

Funding Circle US is currently advertising for a number of capital markets jobs, all based in San Francisco. Among the listed jobs is a newly created Head of US Capital Markets role.

Albert Periu (pictured), formerly global co-head of capital markets at the firm, appears to have left the firm in December of last year, based on his LinkedIn profile. He is now the co-founder and CEO of a company called Neptune Financial, which is attempting to bring technology-enabled lending to the middle market.

A Funding Circle spokesperson told us that Sachin Patel is now running capital markets for the firm globally.

There are currently five capital markets jobs listed in the US. Patel is said to be looking to re-model the US team to mirror its UK counterpart. The UK team’s most recent win was a C Share raise for the SME Income Fund of £142m, which exceeded expectations.

Ewan Lovett-Turner, a director at Numis Securities Limited, described the C Share raise as an impressive result for Funding Circle, noting that it came against a backdrop of other marketplace/direct lending funds trading on substantial discounts.

Funding Circle expanded into the US in 2014 through the acquisition of Endurance Network. The firm is currently active across the UK, US and Europe.
