LendInvest Capital's flagship private debt fund reaches £100m despite Brexit uncertainty

By Daniel Lanyon on 1st June 2017

The fintech lending firm has seen a strong run of late with a boost in investment and revenues.

The on-going low-yielding interest rate environment is driving demand for private debt assets, according to Rod Lockhart, managing director of LendInvest Capital, who is expecting the fixed income alternative market to continue to prosper as the Brexit process unfolds.

The UK-based specialist real estate lender and fund manager, LendInvest Capital has seen rapid inflows into its Montello Real Estate Opportunity Fund, according to the firm.

Lockhart said: “In such a consistently low-yield interest rate environment, the hunt for income has never been so strong. We can expect to see private debt becoming an increasingly mainstream component of investors’ portfolios.”

“Real estate private debt funds, in particular, are well-placed to prosper; despite the hurdles created by the Brexit referendum and the upcoming general election, UK real estate is proving fundamentally resilient. For investors, an exposure to real estate debt provides a strong income return combined with the security provided from the underlying asset.”

The fund, which launched back in January 2014, has seen assets have now reached over £100 million ($128m) thanks to high demand private and institutional clients. In the past year the portfolio has seen assets more than doubled in size in 12 months (up 113 per cent from £47m, April 2016.

LendInvest Capital is the fund management and investment advisory arm of LendInvest, the marketplace for property lending & investing.

The Luxembourg-domiciled Fund has attracted a wide range of investors that now includes asset managers, banks, endowment and pension funds, family offices and HNW individuals broadly spread across Europe, Middle East and Asia.

The LendInvest group manages and advises on more than £430m of assets on behalf a wide range of UK and international investors and has lent £1bn since launching in 2008.
