Woodford ups stake in private debt fund

By Daniel Lanyon on 28th November 2017

The fund manager is a keen backer of alternative credit,  fintech and disruptive finance.

Star fund manager Neil Woodford has increased his stake in the £320m HoneyComb investment trust, according to regulatory filings.

Woodford, whose investment strategy is going through a rough patch a present, runs three portfolios with assets under management of nearly £10bn.

Last week he topped up his holding in Honey Comb to more than 18 per cent of its share capital from 17 per cent.

The HoneyComb fund, which raised a further £105m back in May, offers exposure to a portfolio of both UK consumer as well as specialist debt originated by platforms such as Freedom Finance and Iwoca.

The closed-ended fund has had a busy year aside from raising new cash with its investment manager Pollen Street Capital merging with MW Eaglewood, manager of P2P Global Investments.

Woodford last topped his holding in HoneyComb back in August.
