With more than 15 years of sales and leadership experience, Michael has a strong commercial acumen within the financial services industry and has managed large teams of up to 100 people. Prior to joining OnDeck Michael spent time with FlexiGroup. He also spent 14 years with GE Capital, rounding out his time there in the role of General Manager- Equipment Finance Australia. He has extensive experience in all facets of commercial finance, having held a number of senior positions. Michael has a proven track record of building a customer centric culture through optimization of sales force effectiveness while ensuring delivery of shareholder return.

  • This panel, the last of the day, looked at how fintech intermediaries fit in an industry that’s getting tougher and heading towards consolidation.

  • Peter White emphasised the role of brokers as a central intermediary, noting that they are driven by the National Consumer Credit Code. They don’t give advice they give assistance by law.

  • Michael Burke noted that things are getting tougher but there is still a major role for intermediaries, but margins and revenues aren’t as high as many hoped.
