The London Entrepreneurial Exchange (E2Exchange), headed by Sir Richard Branson, are behind the launch. The platform is called Ice Dragons – and will connect high-quality, ambitious start-ups with high net-worth investors. It is being delivered in partnership with the Welsh Innovation Centre for Enterprise (ICE). E2Exchange and ICE hope to leverage their sizeable combined network of entrepreneurs/investors to jump-start Ice Dragons into life.

Adrian Walker, Chief Executive of Ice Dragons, said:

“Welsh ICE is renowned for its skills and expertise in nurturing early stage businesses, while E2Exchange has a strong track record of supporting entrepreneurs and SMEs by providing the business services and advice that enables them to thrive.

“This gives both organisations excellent insight into the funding issues of SMEs, which makes them such fitting partners for Ice Dragons. Working together, we are confident that we can connect many high-quality businesses with the early stage funding that they need to flourish and expand.”

In addition to the benefit of considerable expertise, the Welsh ICE Business Centre will be made freely useable to entrepreneurs using the Ice Dragons platform. E2Exchange has indicated that they intend to create a global crowdfunding network – launching operations across Europe in late 2014.
