Exclusive: Freetrade appoints ex-Amazon dev Shahid Naveed as CTO
The appointment comes more than a year after Freetrade’s long-serving CTO Ian Fuller left the fintech.

Share trading platform Freetrade has appointed Shahid Naveed as its new chief technology officer, AltFi can exclusively reveal.
The appointment comes after Freetrade’s long-serving CTO Ian Fuller left the company in March 2021 to join WeGift.
Naveed joins Freetrade from Auction Technology Group, a listed operator of online marketplaces like The Saleroom and LiveAuctioneers where he was VP of Engineering, and before that worked as technical lead and manager for Amazon Video’s Digital Store team.
His arrival comes after Freetrade made several hires to its engineering team, including a new engineering director who is currently expanding the team in Budapest.
Naveed will remain based in Freetrade’s London office, but will oversee a global team in Hungary and Brisbane, Australia.
Freetrade’s CEO and founder Adam Dodds said he was excited to bring Naveed on board as “he brings a wealth of technical knowledge and leadership experience to this role. He’s able to dive deep into the details, while also setting out a clear strategy to lead our engineering team.”
“I’ve been impressed with the grit that our technical teams have demonstrated throughout this challenging market environment. We’ve shown as a company that we have what it takes to continue to grow and thrive.”
Freetrade has raised £32m worth of funding in 2022, including nearly £2m from its crowdfunding round that closed in September 2022 and an additional £30m loan agreement with its institutional backers.
