Zumo hires ex-Modulr data guru Vicky Byrom as chief data officer
The just-named AltFi Crypto Company Of The Year 2022 has a new hire up its sleeve.

Wallet and crypto-as-a-service provider Zumo has hired Vicky Byrom as its first chief data and analytics officer (CDAO) in order to overhaul its data strategy.
Byrom joins from Modulr where she was previously director of product for data, and will work on establishing Zumo’s data governance committee, handling new data sources and improving data literacy.
Zumo, which was named Crypto Company Of The Year 2022 at the AltFi Awards last week, has both a B2C investment app as well as a B2B arm called Zumo Enterprise, that helps fintechs and financial institutions develop their own crypto offerings.
Byrom has previously picked up awards for her data work and describes herself as a “self-confessed data nerd” who has spent her career “bringing profitable order to data anarchy”.
She was previously on the Scottish Government’s AI Steering Committee, which developed the country’s first AI strategy.
“Lots of organisations claim to be data-driven, but most don’t do it very well. That’s because data is often an ill-considered afterthought,” she said.
“It’s hugely exciting to join Zumo, a well-respected company that wears its green credentials on its sleeve. It’s an opportunity to work with the very best in fintech.”
Indeed, only earlier this year Zumo joined the World Economic Forum's Crypto Sustainability Coalition, pledging with 30 other organisations to develop a more environmentally sustainable crypto industry.
The company also continues to hire aggressively, having already more than doubled its headcount over the past 12 months.
