Metro Bank has appointed long-standing employee Richard Saulet as managing director, consumer finance.

Saulet has been with Metro Bank for more than 10 years, working his way up from commercial director to director of strategy and corporate development before stepping into his new role last month.

He will now be responsible for leading and developing Metro Bank’s unsecured lending products, which include personal loan propositions under the RateSetter brand, according to the bank.

“We have an excellent team who work hard to deliver great results and innovative products for our customers,” Saulet said.

“I hope to continue this throughout 2023 and beyond as Metro Bank continues its journey to becoming the UK’s best community bank.”

Prior to joining Metro Bank, Saulet was commercial director at Virgin Money, and has held a variety of roles at both Barclays and RBS.

He will report to Metro Bank’s CEO Dan Frumkin and sit on the executive committee.

“Richard is a real asset for Metro Bank and I’m delighted he has agreed to lead our Consumer Finance proposition,” Frumkin said.

“I look forward to seeing his ambitions come to life.”
