The Dutch fintech is integrating in-person and online payments to create “unified commerce” for merchants.
Mollie is launching a new in-person payments solution, Mollie Terminal.
The product will roll out across Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands first and adds to its existing in-person payments option that uses QR codes.
According to the Dutch payments giant, it is enhancing its in-person offering in response to demand from its 130,000 customers, many of whom operate across both physical and online stores.
The integrated in-person and online payments, or “unified commerce”, will work alongside the Mollie Dashboard, which allows merchants to report, reconcile and settle all processed payments in one place.
“Mollie Terminal is an important milestone launch and a critical part of our in-person payments offering, further strengthening our position in the unified commerce payments market,” Mollie CEO Koen Koppen said.
“With our customers' high regard for Mollie’s online proposition, we are delighted to be able to meet the needs of customers offline too.”
Working through a single API for both online and in-person payments, Mollie says the Terminal provides companies with an in-person solution that “seamlessly integrates” into their platforms.
“As our customers have come to expect, Mollie Terminal offers competitive pricing, local support and immense flexibility,” Koppen continued.
“Our solution delivers an integrated and flexible point of sale solution that saves merchants time and money.”
The launch of the Terminal comes ahead of its rollout of Tap to Pay for Android, which will happen later this year.
Following the initial rollout, there are plans to expand to other European markets later this year.
