Yesterday saw the first of many Alternative Finance Roadshow events, hosted by AltFi Funding.
The event, which took place at the Portsmouth Harbour Yacht Club, welcomed over 50 small and medium sized businesses that were interested in learning about the quickly growing alternative finance space.
AltFi Funding is an education focused alternative finance comparison website that over the last few months has realised that a huge amount of small and medium sized business are still unaware of the existence of the sector.
Six alternative lenders ranging from direct lenders to crowdfunders through to peer-to-business funders joined AltFi Funding at the Harbour Club and each presented to the intrigued SMEs. The six platforms were:
Adrian Reeve, CEO of YesGrowth commented:
“The Port Solent event, organised by AltFi Funding, was timely in bringing together many SMEs from across the South for an intensive session to hear about the Alternative Finance sector and to meet several funding platforms. It’s an innovative approach in this space and YesGrowth looks forward to continuing its involvement.”
Leading accountancy firm Baker Tilly has partnered up AltFi Funding to co-host these events and gave a very interesting presentation talking about the industry as a whole and how they believe it that it will continue to grow.
Matt Hinkley, Business Development Manager of AltFi, offered his thoughts on the event:
“The event seemed to go really well with a lot of the business owners saying that they had learnt a lot from the day and will definitely attend future events.”
“I think today has shown that AltFi Funding is not just a signposting website for platforms but more of an educator for the alternative finance space.”
The major takeaway from the day was that a large amount of small business owners admitted that they had only ever heard of crowdfunding. The event opened their eyes to the full range of funding options that are available to them.
