As we approach the end of June Zopa and Funding Circle appear on track to surpass £40m in monthly origination volume – this would mark the first time two leading UK platforms achieved such a feat. Zopa currently hold the record for monthly UK origination volume with £45.4m loan volume origination in April 2015.
At the end of December 2014 AltFi Data released 2015 volume predictions for the UK alternative Finance industry. With half of 2015 remaining AltFi Data have published an update on these predictions using regression analysis on the most recent growth data recorded for individual platforms. According to the latest predictions, the UK alternative finance industry is on course for £3bn in volume originations in 2015.
There had been much press speculation surrounding Funding Circle’s valuation following the platform’s Series E funding round. From Companies House filings AltFi Data have confirmed Funding Circle’s status as a unicorn, a Silicon Valley term used for private tech companies with valuations of $1bn+.
