Red Letter Day for European Alternative Finance

Yesterday saw the European Alternative Finance industry reach two major milestones in cumulative origination volume. The UK Industry crossed the £4bn mark and the industry in the rest of Europe crossed the €1bn mark, according to the Liberum AltFi Volume Indices.

The Liberum AltFi Volume Index UK, shown above, has grown 119% in the last 12 months, with £1.34bn (34%) originated so far in 2015. If the current growth trajectory is maintained, we expect the sector to originate another £1.5bn by the end of the year.

The Liberum AltFi Volume Index Europe, depicted above, is growing at a slightly slower rate with 102% growth in the last 12 months. €294m (29.4%) of this has been originated so far in 2015. If the current growth trajectory is maintained, we expect the sector to originate another €350m by the end of the year.
