Inaugural awards handed out to top performing fintechs
FinTech Australia’s inaugural awards were presented Wednesday night at Sydney’s Darling Harbour to a 200 guest audience made up mostly of industry figures.
The awards - which spanned a staggering 29 categories, some of which featured only one nominee - were handed down in an Oscars-style envelope opening ceremony, backed by blasting pop music.
“We’re here celebrating what you're doing to transform our economy,” said New South Wales Minister of Innovation Matt Kean, presenting the headline winners.
“Sydney is home to Australia’s largest financial services industry and a leading Asia-Pacific fintech hub with 54 per cent of our fintech sector based in NSW.
“Success for you means success for everyone in NSW.”
The main corporate winner was Priviso Data, a tech company specialising in bank statement retrieval, which took home three awards; and RateSetter Australia, the Australian arm of the British P2P lender.
The top individual winner was AgriData’s Emma Weston, who took home two awards.
