Investors will now have the opportunity to invest in increasingly popular student accommodation.
As student housing becomes more popular among millennials, individual investors can now widen their investments in Purpose Built Student Accommodation.
Property Partner, an online property investment platform, is adding the asset class to its portfolio of investment options.
Gone are the days of overcrowded, damp rooms, as students demand better housing, says Daniel Gandesha, CEO and founder of Property Partner.
“Today’s students want better, and rightly so,” he said. “For us, bringing student accommodation to our platform means we’re able to be part of the movement to do the right thing by students, whilst also providing a sound investment opportunity for people who want to make the most of an investment class that provides healthy and consistent returns.”
Student accommodation outperforms other property assets, the firm says. In the past five years, Purpose Built Student Accommodation has returned an average annual total of 11.8 per cent, compared to a 7.8 per cent return for residential and a 7.4 per cent return for commercial property.
The rise has also lead to an increase in funding, with an expected £5.4bn invested in the asset class in 2017.
Property Partner, launched in 2015, gives users the opportunity to invest in property without having to buy, own and manage real estate. Users can choose what properties to invest in and how much to invest. Over 10,000 users have invested in 500 UK properties through the platform to date, with a current estimated return of 8.2 per cent.
