LendInvest hires new COO

LendInvest has appointed former IG Group Global Head of Operations, Arman Tahmassebi, as its new Chief Operating Officer, AltFi can exclusively reveal.

Tahmassebi joins LendInvest from ETX Capital, a retail trading technology platform where he spent three years serving firstly as COO, then as the company’s CEO.

Arman previously spent 15 years at IG Group where he started out as a graduate before moving on to hold several senior management roles overseeing the technology, business development and operations departments, ultimately serving as the listed firm’s global head of operations.

Over this period the business grew from a small UK-only operation to over 1,400 staff located in 17 countries around the globe.

At LendInvest, Arman will be responsible for overseeing the business’s operational strategy and technology.

Christian Faes, Co-Founder & CEO of LendInvest, said: "We have known Arman for a number of years, and have been keen to get him involved in our business. He is joining the company at an exciting time as we continue to build out a significant technology platform, which will drive efficiencies across the business through automating our processes. Arman’s experience with growing and operating a best-in-class technology business like IG Group is invaluable for LendInvest.

You can hear Christian Faes in a fireside chat with Bloomberg’s Edward Robinson at the AltFi London Summit 2019 on 18th March.

Grow the business as you like, but never take your eye off the ball with regards to defaults and retrieval action. You will only be as good as your last act. So long as losses are kept to a minimum and investors are compensated for losses, then all will be well. Reputations are lost in a heart beat with peer to Peer Lending and investors will take flight when defaults and non performing loans are not successfully retrieved. Look at what's happened to Lendy. Be honest with your investors and tough on defaulters. More importantly ensure realistic valuations and security on loans. Don't take risks, as obviously some past Peer to peer platforms have. Be tough on defaulters and successful on recouping defaulting investment. Be strong in your recovery processes and your reputation will flourish and grow. I wish your new man all the best and look forward to much more prosperous investing.
