Leading European stars including Freetrade's Adam Dodds, Funding Circle's Lisa Jacobs, MarketFinance's Anil Stocker and Mangopay's Celine Lazorthes are among the listmakers of AltFi’s inaugural Powerlist 50, a ranking of the most influential players in European fintech and alternative finance.

AltFi’s Powerlist 50 list-makers are responsible for startups valued at a collective £30bn+, and have a financial firepower of over £4.74bn under their control, according to figures calculated by Beauhurst.

The founders of Europe’s leading unicorns including Monzo, Funding Circle, Revolut, OakNorth, and N26 all appear on the list, which was launched today at the AltFi Berlin Summit 2019.

AltFi’s full Powerlist 50 can be found here.

To create our inaugural Powerlist 50, AltFi’s team spent the Summer developing a ‘Powerlist Score’ methodology, based on ranking social reach, financial firepower, and the number of customers and staff each player in AltFi’s universe is responsible for.

Our Powerlist is divided between six spheres of influence: Digital Banking, Payments, Alternative Lending, Savings & Investments, Investors, and Regulators.

We then pitted influencers and their ‘Powerlist Score’ against the other players in their six respective sectors to determine who made the cut from each category.

Diversity and methodology

We are also acutely aware that women comprise just under 25% of the players on our list, a disappointing fact that we have addressed in detail here.

No methodology is perfect, and no doubt ours too has its flaws. We welcome feedback at Awards@AltFi.com
