Profitable SME banking service Cashplus this morning announced the appointment of a new Corporate Affairs Director to take over its media relations, public affairs and corporate development.

The move comes after Cashplus poached a new credit director from American Express and a former Monzo executive as its new Treasurer.

Cashplus earlier this year revealed that it’s planning to secure a banking licence in Q1 2020 and expects to grow its market share of new UK business accounts from 7% currently to 10%.

Alex Moorhouse, the newly-appointed Corporate Affairs Director, joins after advising the business for 12 months and having previously been Group Head of Communications at Daily Mail and General Trust (DMGT).

“Rich and the team have done an excellent job in delivering better digital banking services for the entrepreneurs, innovators and independent businesses that power our economy,” said Moorhouse on his appointment.

Cashplus has also managed the rare feat of delivering profits in a sector where others are haemorrhaging money and has enormous growth opportunities post-bank licence. I think that’s a story worth telling and I’m excited to get started.”

Earlier this year, Cashplus posted revenues of £45.6m and an operating profit of £3.2m, its eighth consecutive year of turning an operating profit.
