Lloyd’s of London snaps up former Head of Intelligent Automation at RBS

Lousie Smith has been named Lloyd’s of London’s new Chief Digital Officer in the most recent move by the company to modernise.

Smith joins Lloyd’s from RBS where she spearheaded the digitisation of the bank’s personal and business banking and was the Head of Intelligent Automation for eight years. 

Previously, Smith was an advisor for Fujitsu for the innovation of digital services and was a Fintech Envoy for HM Treasury seeking to help emerging Scottish fintech networks take full advantage of the booming UK fintech environment. 

Smith is on the judging panel of Tech Nation’s FinTech Growth programme. Last week Tech Nation announced the next cohort of startups included in this year’s programme, Upscale 5.0.

This appointment is the most recent step by Lloyd’s of London to modernise, in June 2019 it announced a £53m innovation facility.

The project will see the launch of a digital platform for complex risks and a prototype for a “syndicate-in-a-box” are both set to go live this year.
