Money transfer group TransferGo has appointed Edgardo Savoy as its new chief technology officer.

Savoy, who has over two decades of product and technology developing experience, will preside over a team of more than 60 engineers.

In his 25 years in the industry, Edgardo Savoy has previously held senior roles at Paddy Power, and The Restaurant Group.

On his appointment, Savoy said: “I can’t think of a more exciting time to join TransferGo. The culture of innovation and passion for providing users with a fantastic experience is something I have deep affinity with.”

“I’m looking forward to guiding an incredibly talented engineering and product team to even higher heights as we enter this new phase of growth.”

TransferGo now counts 2m customers on its platform and is used in 32 countries globally, adding 11 new markets just shy of a month ago, and has set its sights on expanding even further.

Since its launch in 2012, the fintech says it has facilitated more than 7m transactions, with the transaction figures up “significantly” due to the coronavirus pandemic.
