The hire is part of the bank’s recent green finance acquisition.
Veteran banking chief Paul Noble has been appointed chief commercial officer of Tandem in order to deliver on the bank’s new mission to become a green lending powerhouse.
The appointment comes as Tandem in August acquired Allium Money, a green alternative lender which offers financing to improve the energy efficiency of people’s homes, and where Noble stood as CEO.
“This is an exciting time for Tandem whilst we focus on becoming the UK’s first fully green digital bank and Paul’s experience is the perfect fit,” said Tandem’s CEO Ricky Knox.
“He will play a crucial role in our mission to create eco-focussed products and services for our customers and ensuring our enduring mission of building ‘the good bank’ also means ‘the green bank’.”
Knox also said that Tandem expects to “achieve profitability in 2021”.
As well as his role at Allium, Noble is also a partner at Pollen Street Capital and is the CEO of Pollen Street’s Honeycomb fund of which Allium was a part.
Prior to Pollen Street, Noble was the CEO and co-founder of 118118 Money and chief credit, strategy and infrastructure officer at Ulster Bank.
“People care, probably more than ever, about the future of our planet and are taking direct action to tackle the current climate crisis in ever increasing numbers,” said Noble.
“This includes self-evaluating lifestyles and making money choices that actively work towards the realisation of a green agenda.”
