Financial API provider TrueLayer has bolstered its executive team once more, appointing its latest vice president of engineering, Ben Foster.

Before joining TrueLayer, Foster was previously former senior vice president of engineering at Checkout.com and one of the fintech’s earliest engineers, joining the payment processor nearly five years ago.

Of his appointment, Foster said: “The open banking space is incredibly exciting, and the fact we can put customers in control of their data and deliver services that work for them is something I feel passionate about.”

“The opportunity to work at an innovator and market leader like TrueLayer that is helping to drive that change is incredibly exciting. I’m looking forward to working with Luca and the team as we evolve our existing offerings and build new ones.”

In his new role, Foster will be working directly with TrueLayer’s CTO and co-founder Luca Martinetti, helping to roll out TrueLayer’s services across Europe and design and execute the fintech’s product roadmap.

Luca Martinetti, CTO and co-founder of TrueLayer, added: “This is a hugely important role for us as we move through 2021, with ambitious plans to expand our existing offerings and launch new services.”

“[Ben’s] can-do attitude, talent and track record, particularly from his time at Checkout, and his mindful approach to building engineering capabilities really aligned to our thinking. I can’t wait to see his impact on our teams, our services, and how he helps us foster and attract the best engineering talent.”

Earlier this year, TrueLayer appointed its first UK country manager Jamie Morton, who joined the fintech from home improvement financing platform Vendigo, and was tasked with working alongside TrueLayer’s chief revenue officer Max Emilson to tackle UK expansion.

In 2020 alone, the fintech expanded its employee base by 126 per cent and expanded into 12 new countries, including France, Ireland, Italy, Spain and Germany, with much more of the same to come.
