The CTO of share trading platform Freetrade is leaving the startup after just shy of three years leading its tech development.

Ian Fuller joined Freetrade in July 2018 as VP of engineering, coming from Snapchat where he worked in the same building as Freetrade at the time.

Since then Fuller has been responsible for everything from Freetrade’s ISA, to its Android app, fractional shares and Invest Platform.

“It has been an honour to help build and be part of the Freetrade team and in particular, to have worked with such talented engineers,” the CTO said on his departure announced last week.

“The support and encouragement from our engaged community of customers and investors has been incredible. I’ll always be proud of my time at Freetrade and I can’t wait to see what happens next!”

Fuller has yet to reveal what his next steps post-Freetrade will be, and a spokesperson for the company wouldn’t comment on his destination or replacement.

“Ian has played a pivotal role in helping Freetrade grow into a truly disruptive force in the retail investment space,” wrote Freetrade CEO and co-founder Adam Dodds on Fuller’s departure in a blog post

“Back in 2018, with the support of only two awesome engineers, Ian willed the Freetrade product into existence, before leading on the release of other products that have been key to our continued success.”
