Open banking provider Tink has a new UK lead with the announcement today that Tom Pope would fill the shoes of Rafa Plantier, who left the company just last week.

Pope joined Tink in June 2021 from FIS, where he was previously SVP of product strategy and new initiatives, and will retain his role as the fintech’s head of payments and platforms.

“Open banking had a phenomenal year in 2021, with millions of consumers discovering the superior user experiences open banking can enable,” said Pope.

Tink is experiencing huge growth in the UK and more widely across Europe, and we are excited to continue to partner with leading banks, merchants and PSPs to increase innovation in financial services.”

As well as his appointment, Tink also promoted Tasha Chouhan to UK and IE banking lead—Chouhan joined Tink in 2020 from Starling Bank where she was head of business development for banking services.

Plantier’s departure last week was in order for the exec to “take on a novel challenge” and he left some parting thoughts for the open banking sector on LinkedIn.

“Today, I am as bullish on open banking (and the [Third Party Provider] community) as I ever was,” he wrote.
