Wise appoints interim CFO after Matt Briers bike accident
Finance director Kingsley Kemish will take over during Briers’ recovery.

The chief financial officer of listed money transfer group Wise has been involved in a bike accident, resulting in the temporary appointment of an interim CFO.
Wise yesterday afternoon told investors that Matt Briers is “recovering at home” following his recent accident, and said his return to work would be “gradual”.
In the meantime, the company’s financial director Kingsley Kemish is stepping into the interim CFO position, and will report directly to CEO and co-founder Kristo Kärmann.
"We all wish Matt a speedy recovery and my thanks go to Kingsley for stepping into this interim role,” said Kärmann.
“Kingsley's experience and knowledge of Wise will provide continuity for us as we continue to grow and deliver on our mission."
Briers joined Wise (then TransferWise) in 2015 from Google, and has led the company through to its IPO in July 2021 and beyond.
He spoke at AltFi’s Festival of Finance 2020 with Zopa co-founder Giles Andrews on the subject of Fintech Profits: A Prophecy.
From everyone here at AltFi, we wish Briers a speedy recovery.
