Will Ferrell-backed Danish neobank Lunar has launched a new payment offering for its 15,000 business customers, saying it will “empower” entrepreneurs.

The payments offering is built into Lunar’s business accounts and allows customers to accept and track online payments.

Lunar said it will help e-commerce entrepreneurs and businesses that want to “streamline” their businesses.

Before, Lunar's business customers needed to have agreements with acquirers on their e-commerce platform, but the new payment offering means they can accept payments immediately.

Lunar’s business customers with a focus on e-commerce grew from 20 per cent to 30 per over the past year. The Danish bank has 15,000 business customers in total.

Ken Villum Klausen, CEO and founder of Lunar, said: “It’s critical for any e-commerce business to accept online payments fast and easy and let customers pay in multiple ways.

“By building this solution into our business account, we empower new webshop entrepreneurs from day one. They only need one place to start and grow their e-commerce business.”

Lunar has been steadily building its business offering, after launching business accounts in 2020.

Last year, it acquired payment gateway Paylike to launch its own one-step checkout solution for its business customers- which its new payment offering integrates with.

Paylike handles more than €100m of transactions every year and will help the bank to bolster its current business banking offering.

Last month the Danish challenger bank added a bit of Hollywood glamour to its investor roster with Will Ferrell backing the fintech.

Ferrell, who has a Swedish wife, is to front Lunar's latest advertising campaign, playing the role of a character called Will Power.
