Former WorldRemit executive Mark Watson has joined ComplyAdvantage as its new chief technology officer.

Watson spent nearly four years at WorldRemit—first as general manager for Poland and then as CTO since 2018—and prior to that co-founded and exited several B2B startups including Volantis Systems and Skipjaq.

At ComplyAdvantage Watson will lead all engineering and technical innovation, specifically looking to expand the fintech’s ComplyData knowledge graph that gives clients extra contextual insights.

"We've spent the last 8 years helping our customers find and mitigate the hidden threats of money-laundering and related financial crimes,” said Charlie Delingpole, CEO and founder of ComplyAdvantage.

“We're now at a place in the company's evolution where it takes someone with Mark's background, vision and expertise to lead our next wave of technical innovation.”

Watson is taking over from Richard Orme, who stepped down as ComplyAdvantage CTO in January to join global tech investment firm Silver Lake as an operating executive.
