Moneybox has appointed Caroline Murphree as managing director of investing, retirement and savings.

Murphree joins the digital wealth manager after four years at Wealthsimple, most recently as CEO for Europe.

Before her time at Wealthsimple, Murphree was a consultant at McKinsey, and she kickstarted her career in digital marketing at Quotient Technologies in Silicon Valley.

She joined the company in April following the company’s £35m Series D raise to continue Moneybox’s growth with her industry knowledge and experience.

“Bringing saving, investing, home-buying, and retirement services together, into one simple app, together with tools, information, and award-winning customer support, we aim to help people clearly see how they can make their money work harder for them, over the short and long term, and to achieve their financial goals with greater confidence,” Murphree said.

“In the current economic climate, I believe Moneybox has a unique opportunity to revolutionise how people engage with their finances and to have a transformational effect on their financial future.”

Moneybox currently supports more than 850,000 customers and has more than £3bn in assets under administration.

The app aims to help people “build wealth with confidence” regardless of starting point.

“Our comprehensive product range is designed to help people succeed over the long term, and Caroline will now take to reins to further enhance our proposition, making it even more integrated, intuitive, and personalized, guiding people through all their key financial goals in life,” Moneybox co-founder Charlie Mortimer said.

Murphree joins Cecilia Mourain, managing director of home-buying, on the executive team, who took on the role last November.
