Payments platform Paysend is strengthening its senior leadership team with the appointment of Wilhelm Rohde as its group chief financial officer.

Rohde joins the company after almost four years at Swisscard AECS, a joint venture between American Express and Credit Suisse, where he was CFO and president of the board of trustees.

Prior to that, Rohde spent almost 15 years at American Express in addition to consulting roles at Deloitte and Cap Gemini.

“[Rohde’s] experience in helping payments companies to scale and navigate hyper-growth journeys will be invaluable to us as operational and financial growth remain important catalysts for the next stage of our growth story,” Paysend founder and chairman Abdul Abdulkerimov said.

Rohde will take over the role from Rory Suckling, who has been interim CFO since March.

The appointment follows the launch of two new products earlier in the year, Credit Builder and Pay Later, to help build customers’ financial health.

Paysend also launched a new business product to help accelerate the growth of small to medium-sized enterprises through an end-to-end payments platform.

The company has added 50 new receiving countries to its network since the start of the year to now allow customers to send money to more than 170 countries worldwide, and expects to hit eight million customers globally later this year.
