Carta starts third round of layoffs in 2023

US-based equity management fintech Carta is undergoing a fresh round of layoffs.

According to a report in Fortune, three employees have confirmed that San Fransisco-based Carta is undergoing restructuring for the third time this year.

The two previous rounds occurred in January and July.

“We didn’t see this coming. I had a full calendar booked with meetings,” an anonymous source Fortune.

Carta helps startups, angel networks and funds with cap table management, compensation, valuations, portfolio investments as well as liquidity for half a million employees in the US of c.30,000 companies and 5000 funds including the likes of Canva, Tribe, and Pipe.

Carta bought the UK equity management platform Capdesk last year for an undisclosed sum, shortly after hitting a $8.5bn valuation.
