ClearBank recruits new group heads of embedded banking and channels and alliances
Bringing even more senior executives into the ClearBank fold ahead of its European expansion
Just weeks after securing Starling alum Megan Cooper as its new chief product officer, ClearBank is on a roll with a host of new high-profile hires to start 2024.
This time it’s a new group head of embedded banking Paul Staples and group head of channels and alliances Nick Ford.
Staples was formerly an embedded banking advisor to private equity and venture capital firms, and before that was among the founding executive team of HSBC’s global embedded banking arm.
“Finding deep value through new propositions that no one has conceived before or considered too hard is an exciting opportunity and the ClearBank team is well positioned to deliver on this,” Staples said on his appointment.
Ford meanwhile was previously a vice president of global alliances for six years at KYC provider Encompass Corporation and before that was a business development director at Thompson Reuters.
“I'm focused on building out a global strategy that will drive indirect channel revenue while expanding on ClearBank’s current partner ecosystem as we move into Europe,” said Ford on his new role.
ClearBank’s chief revenue officer Andrew Barker welcomed the duo and said that the hires would be crucial as the business looks to expand into Europe in 2024 (a move that had previously been planned for late-2023).
“I’m looking forward to seeing what we’ll achieve from building on our new and existing partnerships and further developing our industry-leading embedded banking offering,” Barker said.
The fintech reported a profitable H1 2023 last year, and is expected to announce full-year profitability when it reports its FY results.
As well as Cooper and these two latest hires, ClearBank also appointed a new chair and three new board members last year, along with a chief product and technology officer and a new chief financial officer.
