Small business lending platform Funding Circle and Waterfall Asset Management (WAM) have closed a £240m securitisation backed by SME loans.

The loans were financed by funds managed by WAM and originated through the Funding Circle platform.

Funding Circle has now supported seven UK securitisations, totalling £1.4bn.

“We’re proud to continue our long-standing partnership with Waterfall Asset Management; together increasing Capital Markets’ investment into small businesses through this securitisation,” Funding Circle CEO Lisa Jacobs said.

“Continued investor demand in the loans we originate is reflected in its pricing, and demonstrates the value our technology and distribution platform provides, even in challenging economic environments.”

WAM will use the proceeds from the bond to continue supplying funds to SMEs through Funding Circle as part of its £1bn partnership.

The funding will aim to help tens of thousands of small businesses to invest and grow as well as to create new jobs across the UK.

“We’re pleased to have supported thousands of small businesses through the Funding Circle platform over the past five years,” WAM managing director James Cuby said.

“We appreciate Funding Circle’s flexible approach as a counterparty, and are delighted this latest securitisation allows a broader range of market participants to access this asset class.”
