LatAm fintech giant DLocal has hired Pedro Arnt as its new co-CEO to help steer the company alongside its founder Sebastián Kanovich.

Arnt is the former chief financial officer of Mercado Libre, where he worked for twelve years.

Prior to joining Mercado Libre, Arnt - who is a British and Brazillian citizen - worked at the Boston Consulting Group. He is also a board member for Allegro.eu and an advisor to Riverwood Capital.

“I am delighted to welcome Pedro as co-CEO. We have a huge opportunity ahead and I am confident that Pedro and I will steer dLocal's next chapter as we continue to execute on our plan of delivering long-term value for our merchants, consumers, and partners. As a key shareholder and part of the founding team, I  continue to be committed to the future success of Dlocal,” Kanovich said.

Last week, dLocal, which provides a payments platform for global enterprise merchants to reach emerging markets consumers, announced a surge in profits in its Q2 earnings report.

The company, which is also exploring options for its European expansion, reported a $70.8m profit in the quarter of 2023, up 43 per cent year-on-year and up 14 per cent compared to the first quarter of 2023.
