B2B digital payments provider Shieldpay has appointed Diji Adu as its new chief technology officer.

Adu joined the company earlier this year as director of technology and spent more than five years at HSBC prior to that.

He brings more than 20 years of leadership and software development to the role, having led projects and managed teams at BlackRock, Goldman Sachs and HSBC building digital banking solutions.

In his new position, he will focus on growing and developing a high-performing technology function which Shieldpay says will become a “driving force” in supporting its ambition to become the leading solution for high-value, complex corporate transactions.

“As we look to embed new innovative technologies into the development of our payments platform and continue to lead the industry in solving problems that our customers face, I’m thrilled to be stepping into this new role,” Adu said.

“Since joining Shieldpay, I have had the pleasure of working with a world-class team and I’m really looking forward to taking the team to its fullest potential and delivering results that drive growth and satisfaction for our clients.”

Shieldpay has recently made several changes to its senior leadership team, bringing Jerry Wozniak on board as its new chief information security officer and seeing former chief technology and product officer Andrew Hawkins transitioning to UK and Europe CEO.

“Since joining the business in July, Diji has made an immediate and profound impact, and his promotion to chief technology officer underscores our unwavering commitment to innovation and our technology first approach,” Hawkins.

Hawkins and Adu worked together at HSBC prior to joining Shieldpay.
