Former Olympian archer and chief banking officer of Starling Bank, Helen Bierton, has left the company after five years in the post.

Bierton joined Starling in 2018 as its head of banking, encompassing the bank’s retail and later SME banking offerings, before being promoted to chief banking officer in 2019.

On LinkedIn, Bierton revealed she quietly left Starling last October and has now joined Lloyds Banking Group as its Everyday Banking Director, a role which encompasses retail current and savings accounts.

“I am really looking forward to working with my new colleagues across the group, and to working together to continue Helping Britain Prosper,” Bierton wrote.

Bierton became a key spokesperson for Starling in recent years and, prior to the establishment of Engine, also led its initial banking-as-a-service offering.

In 2022 she was named AltFi's Woman Of The Year by the panel of judges, who said they recognised her leadership and achievements at the bank.

With the departure of founder Anne Boden last year, Starling Bank is currently under the leadership of interim CEO John Mountain, with the recruitment process for a permanent CEO still ongoing.
