Tandem returns to UK’s fintech capital with new London office
The green challenger’s new permanent space adds to its Blackpool HQ and offices in Durham and Manchester

Green digital bank Tandem is making a return to its London roots with a permanent new office in the UK’s fintech capital.
Previously stationed in Holborn, the fintech’s HQ is now in Blackpool and it took over a temporary private office in a WeWork in London while looking for a new space in the city.
The team’s marketing, treasury, risk and strategy teams will be housed in the new Bloomsbury office, stationing them closer to the wider fintech ecosystem.
“This move marks another milestone for Tandem. After a strong year of growth and breaking into an underlying profit for the first time last year, I’m excited about our evolution and what the future holds — including an exciting roadmap of greener products and propositions,” Tandem CEO Alex Mollart said.
He described London as a “core component”. The company, which launched in 2014, now has more than 500 employees based across London, Blackpool, Cardiff, Durham and Manchester.
Its HQ moved to Blackpool to be “part of the fintech revolution taking place in the North” following its acquisition of Oplo, where Mollart was previously CEO.
Mollart took over from former Tandem CEO Susie Aliker last September, transitioning from deputy CEO and rounding off a period of change in the company’s leadership team, with Paul Pester, a former non-executive director at Oplo, becoming chair designate.
“[A]s the UK’s greener digital bank, London remains a crucial location for us and the UK’s fintech scene as a whole,” Mollart continued.
“The new office is in the heart of it — I’m glad we can continue our commitment and support the growing fintech scene.”
Around 50 employees will be based in the new London office full time, with hot desks for any employees visiting from other sites or remote workers.
