Tech Nation and AJ Bell founders among fintech innovators honoured in New Years Honours list
Fintechs founders, investors and operators didn’t get much of a look in this time around
A new year brings the King’s New Year’s honours list.
Fintech and banking have traditionally been well-represented with many founders such as former Starling boss Anne Boden, Zopa founder Giles Andrews and Ron Kalifa, architect of the Kalifa Review of UK Fintech, awarded a spot on the prestigious list.
This year, however, only a few names made the list.
The founder of digital wealth disruptor AJ Bell's Andrew Bell and Tech Nation’s founder Gerard Grech were awarded a CBE each. Bell for "services to the Financial Sector" and Grech or "services to the Technology Sector".
Richard Harris, the founder of the Ensygnia was awarded an MBE for “services to Fintech Innovation and to Global Technological Advancement”.
Andrew Pollock, the founder of Blackpool-based credit union Clevr Money bagged an OBE for “services to Financial Inclusion”.
