Three great crypto roles currently hiring in the UK
London is the third-best city in the world for crypto, creating a rich environment for job opportunities, writes Jobbio's Kirstie McDermott.

The Swiss city of Zug — the birthplace of ethereum — has come out on top of a new ranking of the world’s best crypto cities. In second place is Singapore, and London bags the coveted third place.
There are a number of factors driving the city’s success as a global crypto hub, perhaps the most obvious of which is the UK’s domain excellence as a centre of financial services, which has allowed it to become the world’s top marketplace for foreign exchange.
Adoption and knowledge around cryptocurrencies is good too, according to a YouGov survey, which found that around 10 per cent of the adult population have bought cryptocurrency, as of January 2023.
There is “a thriving ecosystem of around 2,500 fintech companies in Britain, mostly in London,” says the London Stock Exchange, and in 2022, the government also announced plans to make the UK a global cryptoasset technology hub.
These “say it, be it” plans have been rewarded: venture-capital giant Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), set up its first office outside the US in London this year.
Co-founded by Marc Andreessen, the man behind Mosaic, the first browser with a graphical interface, he is also the co-founder of Netscape, and an investor in multiple big tech companies including Facebook, Foursquare, GitHub, Pinterest, LinkedIn and Twitter.
So far, Andreessen Horowitz has invested in a number of UK-based crypto companies including Arweave, Aztec, and Improbable.
