Andrew joined Compliancy Services in 2013. Compliancy Services are a specialist compliance consultant to firms that provide services which are regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority or the Prudential Regulation Authority. As the Platforms and Asset Management Practice Leader, he advises many companies in the alternative finance, equity and P2P crowdfunding and fintech sectors through the Financial Services Authority authorisation process and continues to provide advice and consultancy to ensure ongoing regulatory compliance. Before moving into the financial services sector in 1990, Andrew trained and worked as a mechanical engineer in the guided weapons area and as a product manager for start-up technology companies on the Cambridge Science Park. His financial services career began as an investment advisor, before moving into investment management where he managed a team of investment managers and analysts. This period of his career culminated in the appointment to lead the turnaround of the portfolio of Duncan Lawrie’s UK Smaller Companies Fund following the collapse of the ‘dot com’ bubble. In 2003 Andrew took his first regulatory compliance post before becoming a consultant in 2008. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience having worked in many different regulated sectors and under every regulatory body the UK has formed since the ‘big bang’. In his free time, he is studying as a beer sommelier with the Institute of Brewing and Distilling and as well as providing compliance consultancy is a qualified expert witness and in this role has acted as an expert witness in a high profile enforcement action at the Upper Tribunal, providing expert opinion on investment compliance matters.
