Ben is a consultant in Bovill’s Capital Markets practice, bringing with him over 15 years of experience gained at top and mid-tier global financial services firms. He regularly advises banking, broking, trading and financial market infrastructure (FMI) clients on a broad range of compliance, risk and regulatory matters, and with new authorisations. Ben helps clients navigate and comply with a range of regulatory regimes including CRR, CRD IV and BRRD; the Investment Firm Prudential Regime (IFPR); CSDR, SFTR and PSD2. Ben also has specific expertise and specialist interests in crowdfunding and peer-to-peer (P2P) lending, and the development and implementation of the Remuneration Code. Ben has held a number of positions spanning regulatory finance and reporting, strategic capital management and risk, in both retail and wholesale banking. Before joining Bovill, Ben was a Senior Manager at Lloyds Banking Group specialising in capital management and optimisation across a full range of consumer lending products including mortgages, unsecured lending, revolving credit and motor financing. Ben has also held roles at Standard Bank, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, RBS, and Barclays Investment Bank, having worked extensively on Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Processes (ICAAP), Recovery and Resolution Planning and Pillar 3 disclosures. Ben graduated from Manchester University in 1999 with a Masters in Electronic Engineering and is also a chartered accountant and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).
