As Head of Banking at Starling Bank, Helen Bierton oversees the retail and business bank accounts. Prior to Starling, she spent 24 years in traditional banking working for Santander, Alliance & Leicester and NatWest where she launched new products and services for customers. Amongst the things she’s proud of in her career so far, Helen helped launch the first digital mortgage application process and the first high interest credit current account. Throughout her time at Santander, she was also a keen supporter of helping women progress their careers in financial services. As Chair of their internal women’s network, she led a team that supported more than 3,200 women. She is also a retired sportswoman, having competed for Great Britain in Archery at the Athens Olympic Games in 2004.
