Joseph Brady joined the North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA) in 2005 as Associate Counsel, became General Counsel in 2011 and was appointed as Executive Director in May 2015. In his role as Executive Director he serves as the chief executive officer of the organization and is responsible for oversight of the Association’s century-old mission of investor protection. Mr. Brady supervises the efforts of NASAA’s corporate office staff in its support of all aspects of NASAA’s mission, including internal governance, member support, and external advocacy and outreach. While serving in various positions with the NASAA legal department he served as a liaison to the NASAA Broker-Dealer Section, Corporation Finance Section, Investment Adviser Section and other committees. He has led several initiatives undertaken by NASAA including the implementation of provisions of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act affecting the regulation of investment advisers and the development of NASAA’s Electronic Filing Depository system for Regulation D, Rule 506 offerings. Prior to joining NASAA, Mr. Brady served as Chief Counsel to the Securities Division of the Mississippi Secretary of State. Mr. Brady is admitted to the bars of Mississippi (inactive) and the District of Columbia and is a graduate of the Mississippi College School of Law and the University of Southern Mississippi.
