Matt Strassberg is Equifax’ General Manager for External Relations Australia and New Zealand. For more than 20 years he has worked in public policy and issues management, including a mid-90s stint as Ministerial Chief of Staff to a state Treasurer and in a similar role in the early 2000s his work included legislation for a new state workers compensation scheme, restoration of environmental flows in the iconic Snowy River and the introduction of the Kings Cross medically supervised injecting room. In the last decade at Equifax he has participated in the evolution of financial regulation as the Commonwealth Government moved to create responsible lending guidelines, restrict payday lending and enable comprehensive credit reporting. Regularly sighted in Canberra and Wellington, Matt is a seasoned observer on how Government’s perceive their role in regulation.
