Michael is an investor with Canaan Partners in New York focused on financial technology and enterprise software. Canaan is an early-stage venture firm with $4.2B under management, currently investing out of its tenth fund of $675 million. While the firm focuses on the broader technology sector, in the FinTech space it led early fundraising rounds for Lending Club, Realty Mogul, Orchard, CircleUp and ShopKeep. Michael is a board observer for Bellhops, Tubular Labs and Rocketrip. Michael launched FinTech Central for Canaan, a quarterly fintech series in NY. Prior to Canaan, Michael was an investment banker in Silicon Valley for growth stage technology companies. He advised on over $2 billion in M&A and private capital transactions during this time. Michael is co-chair of the Board for U.C. Berkeley Alumni of New York and a Junior Council Member at the American Museum of Natural History. He studied economics at the University of California, Berkeley.
