Richard co-founded Octopus Labs in 2015. Octopus Labs is the innovation and product development arm of Octopus – the award-winning investment company managing over £6 billion of assets. Octopus Labs combines established financial services expertise with cutting edge technology to create easy-to-use fintech products that are fit for the mainstream. Working with a unique network of thousands of financial advisers, and with a deep understanding of financial services, Octopus Labs builds the new ideas, platforms and solutions that can improve the financial lives of our customers. The first of these, Octopus Choice, launched in early 2016. Octopus Choice brings together the existing strengths of Octopus Investments in both distribution and loan origination, and couples it with a newly developed fintech capability, to create a new, adviser-friendly take on peer-to-peer lending. Before joining Octopus in late 2014, Richard filled a number of senior strategy and operations roles at both Prudential and Lloyds Banking Group. Richard holds a Masters in Engineering from the University of Cambridge and a MBA from Columbia Business School. He is also a Fulbright Scholar and a Sainsbury Management Fellow.
