Stefanie is the VP of Legal and Compliance at DemystData, a software company with teams in New York, London and Hong Kong that works at the intersection of big data, technology, and banking. DemystData helps financial services providers, like online lenders and banks, access and apply booming amounts of customer data through its proprietary software platform and services. Prior to joining DemystData, Stefanie was a senior associate in the Business Finance & Restructuring Group at the international law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, where she represented global corporations across industries in complex domestic and cross-border commercial transactions. Throughout her career, Stefanie has provided pro bono services to incarcerated mothers on Rikers Island and advised unaccompanied minors in their immigration proceedings through the non-profit organization Kids in Need of Defense (KIND). Stefanie also clerked at the United Nations in the Department of Peacekeeping Operations where she drafted the UN protocol for reporting incidents of sexual abuse and exploitation of women and children by UN Peacekeepers. Stefanie is currently serving as the President of the Board of Directors for a Philippines-based non-profit organization, Roots of Health, that provides maternal and reproductive healthcare to families in Palawan. Stefanie has a B.A, cum laude, from Middlebury College in French and Political Science, with a minor in German, and spent time studying abroad at L’Université de Paris, La Sorbonne, in Paris and the Freie Universität in Berlin. She received her law degree from St. John’s University School of Law.
