Toby Triebel

Toby leads European operations for Wealthsimple, a leading online investment management service that combines user-friendly digital tools and personal financial advice to make smart, automated investing available to everyone. Founded in Canada by a team of financial experts and technology entrepreneurs, Wealthsimple is backed by Power Financial Corporation, a global management and holding company. Prior to Wealthsimple, Toby co-founded Spotcap, an online lending platform to SMEs, in 2014. As CEO, he propelled Spotcap from an idea to an established fintech company that was recently included in the top 50 Leading Global FinTech Innovators by KPMG. He helped grow the business to 80 employees operating in five countries, raising more than €50 million, and continues to support Spotcap as an advisor.  Toby began his career at Goldman Sachs in corporate finance, and subsequently investing in corporates and banks across the capital structure across Emerging Markets at Finisterre Capital, a leading London-based hedge fund. He holds a Masters degree in economics from Cambridge University and a Bachelor degree in economics from the London School of Economics. He has published several FinTech articles in a variety of media, including Techcrunch and VentureBeat, and is regular speaker at FinTech industry conferences.
